Could residential park homes provide the answer to Britain's retirement property shortage?

The National House Building Council (NHBC) has revealed a steep increase in demand for retirement property.  According to their report, there were 21% more new retirement home registrations in the first six months of 2015 than there were for the whole of 2014.  It seems that, as with the property market as a whole, there are simply not enough homes being built.  So what can be done to address the property shortage?

Patrick Chambers, Sales Director at Quick Move Properties, says: "As the UK's leading property part exchange company, we have seen huge growth in the residential park home market, specifically for residential parks aimed at those of retirement age.

"Age-specific residential parks offer the same social benefits available with many retirement properties and there is now a huge choice of both home styles and locations.  The residential park home market has changed dramatically in recent years and many residential parks are now considered aspirational both in terms of property style and the lifestyle on offer."

Mrs Davis, who lives on an age-restricted residential park in North Devon, explains: "We designed our property ourselves from scratch.  Not many people realise that you can do that - you don't have to have a bog-standard, traditional home, you can decide the layout and how it looks.  Our home is very contemporary because that's the look we like, but there's the option to have more traditional features, you can choose whatever you like.

"A lot of people get to fifty and they want to be mortage-free but without losing their standard of living and there's a real community here...it's just ideal for our way of life."

If you're considering moving to a retirement property and have an existing property to sell, Quick Move Properties - the UK's leading independent property part exchange company - could offer you a quick, smooth and hassle-free property sale.  You could also benefit from the company's new Assisted Move service, which allows you to use the capital from your existing home to secure your move without requiring any cash up-front.  Simply tell Quick Move Properties where you'd like to live and the team will set about finding the residential park that will best suit your requirements, budget and timescales.  They will then work alongside an independent estate agent to sell your existing bricks and mortar property and the funds generated from the sale will be used to cover your onward purchase and hopefully leave you with a little leftover.#
